Prosecution of Betting Men.
[By Telegrapb.—Press Association] Ghristohurch, November 14. At the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr Ueeiham, R.M„ t*o men, George Hvde and Walter Williams, were fined £2O each for baing occupiers of certain places in the Ohristohurch race-course reserve, and betting upon certain events contrary (0 seoiion 11 of the Gaining and Lotteries Act, and for betting by means of cards and book, being instruments of wagering at a game of chance, contrary to section 8 of the Act. The same men wero charged with refusing to leave the course after being warned off by an authorised person, In this caso judgment was reserved. David John Pricowas fined £lO for laying totalisntor odds on the Christchurch racecourse on November 9th.
