THE CANTERBURY SHOW.
[By Telegraph,—Proas Association,] Christchurch, November 11, Bain fell at intervals last night, and gave a poor prospect for the success of ' The People's Day' at tho\ Metropolitan Show. Up lo 11 to-day the weather was gloomy, bu(t country people poured in by trains and traps in thousands, Towards midday a. change of wind cleared the clouds away and a general rush was made for the bliow grounds and there is now a prospect, of a record attendance, The Governor and Lady Ulasgow, with their suite, are present. The party proceeded on a tour of inspection of the exhibits, and appeared to be delighted with the excellence of the Bhow. His Excel* lenoywas eutertained at luncheon. Later, The takings at the Metropolitan Show during the two' days were £B4O. Over 16,000 people paid for admission, and it is estimated that including the officials, judges, exhibitors, and others who were admitted ■ free, about 20,000 people visited (be show.
