WESLEYAN SUNDAY SCHOOL.
Annual Tea and Public On Wednesday (Prince of Wales' Birthday) the annual social meeting to celebrate the anniversary of the Masterton Wesleyan Sunday School was held. Over two hundred poreons sat down to an oxceilent tea, in the schoolroom, and the young ladies, under tbe able management of Mrs Dukes, thoroughly earned the thanks given them, The tables were ornamented in tho most tasteful manner with flowers and choice plants. The catering was done by Mr Colin Winchester, and was in his usual first class style. After tea tbe public meeting was held in the church, which was well filled. Tho Eev Mr Wood opened with prayer, after which the Eev Mr Dukes announced Mr Baumber, superintendent of the school, as chairman. Mr Baumber, in a few well-chosen remarks, called upon Mr W. Gillespie, the [Secretary to the school, to read the annual report. Tho report was then read. Mr Steel, in a few flattering words to the Secretary, seconded the adoption of the report, whioh was carried by acclamation. The Chairman then called upon the Eev Mr Wood to address tho meeting, Mr Wood, who was received with applause, complimented the school upon its flourishing condition, and referred to the deplorable faot that so many young people drift away from the Sunday school, He said be thoroughly enjoyed the singing, and wished the school continued prosperity, Short and interesting addresses were also given by tbe Bev T, J, Smith, the Wesleyan Home Missionary, of £ketakuna. During the evening recitations were rendered by Stella Dixon, L. Donald, Amy Williams, lizzie Allen, Miss Dukes, Fred Williams, A pleasing feature of the evening was the singing of the children, and Mr Boogie as conductor, thoroughly deserved the voto of thanks given him. The Chairman called upon Mr Daniell to move the following voto of thanks" To ladies who presided at the tea; Mr Boagy, conductor of singing ; Miss Perry; organist; the decorators ; and all those who havo bo kindly assisted to make tho Anniversary such a success. A vole of thanks to the Oroheestra (who were inadvertantly. omitted), waß added, and all carried by acclamation- A very enjoyable ovcning being brought to a close.
