FEATHERSTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the Featherston Sohool Committee was held last night, there being present Messrs Cundy, Benton, Tait and Toogood (Chairman), . The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting, and of a speoial meeting were read and confirmed.
The head master reportqd the school to be in a satisfactory state. The visitors for the month reported every thing clean and satisfactory, Messrs Toogood and Cundy were appointed visitors for the presont month, The following resolution was passed;-"The Committee hears with regret that Mr Pope has administered a flogging to a small boy, which flogging they consider too severe, under the circumstances." It was resolved that this resolution be brought under the notice of Mr Pope, It was decided that Show Day (Friday, Nov. 4th) be observodasa school holiday, and that a rubber stamp bo procured for the Committee, PICNIC COMMITTEE.
Present—Meaßrs Toogood (in the chair), Ponit, Cundy, Tait, Benton and Spackmnn, Mr D. Robertson, having consented to act as secretary, was added to tlw Pionio Committee.
It was decided to holi) tho picnic on Thursday, 24th November. The subscription lists of Messrs C. Cundy and W, Hodder, junr,, were considered. As tho funds will not be sufficient to provide the usual free public picnic, a shilling admission for adults and sixpence for children will be oharged. Complimentary tiokftts will be issued to all contributors to lis pionio fund, and to all school ohil< dren,
It was decided to ask some hiieg to assist. '•.-'•
