LAND BOARD.

Tlie usual meeting of tbo above Board was held in the Crown Landfl Office yesterday. Present—Messrs J. i- H. Baker (chairman), Fiizherbert, "Wright, McCardle, Smith and Hogg, Tlio Chairman slated that the new Land Act cauie into forco that day, and read the main provisions of it as regards residence uu lands, improvements, leases, applications, and important alterations from the old Act, There were a number of applications lor laud granted, subject to tlio usual conditions, also for titles and trans* fers. Mr McDonald waited on tbo Board with regard to a dispute between himself and I'. S. McDonald as to who obtained section 25, Block V, Mangaone, and it was resolved that the applications should be considered at 3 p.m. waited on tlie Board with reference to the transfer of section 22 Block XlY.| Tararua, from W. J. Bayliss, Kesolved to call upon the Messrs Baylies to attend the next meeting, of the Board, and oiler some explanation of the matter, or Mr 'W.J. Baylies'interest in tbo land would be declared forfeited.
