ACCIDENTS and FATALITIES.
[By Telegraph,—Press Association,] Nelson, October 26. In the case of the death of Georgo Matthews, who was found dead neve, the medical opiuion is now to the effect that death might have been caused by acoident, At the inquest held on the death of George Matthews, a verdict " That death was caused by au accidental fall "was arrived at, Blenheim, October 25. A lad named Alfred Philpotts, son of a storekeeper at Fictou, died in the Hospital this morning whilst under chloroform, administered. to remove dead bone from his leg. Three medical men were present,. Everything wuß dono to restore animation, but without success. Ohristchhroh, October 25. This evening a middle-aged man named William Johnson, who came to-day from Napier in.the Talune, and intended going to England in the Birautaka, fell down in Oxford-street,
Lyttelion, and died almost tonic-, diately. Tim caueo of death was a Rupture of. an artery; Auckland, October 25. A settler at Tmikau named Hugh Black, n married man, forty years of ago, has been drowned in a 'small creok near that village by the capsizing of bis otnoe.
