AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
A Club Formed in Masterton. A well-attended mooting of those interested in the formation of an Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, was held in the Club Hotel last evening, the chair boing occupied by Mr A. E. D'Arcy. Mr Kimtcll (convenor of the meeting) acted as Secretary, pro tern. In a few welLchosen remarks, the Chairman explained tho object of the meeting, dilating upon the advantages of such a society as the one proposal to be formed, and invited propositions from gentlemen present, Mr Kimhell proposed, and Mr D. Casclberg seconded, "That a club bo formed, to bo called the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club." The mover said, in choosing the name he did so with the object of enabling them to form a thoroughly strong club, Tho motion was carried unanimously, It was decided to fix the annual subscription at half-a-guinca, with an entrance fee of 0s to all members oining after the 30th of November. About thirty names of intending members were handed in to the Secretary, The following committee' was then appointed to draw up rules:—Messrs Kimhell, D'Arcy, Malcolm, Clayton, Edward Eton, Alfred Casclberg, and F.. Brabant, five tc form a quorum. The first general meeting of members was fixed for the 28th of October, at which the rules will be submitted and officers elected. Mr Eimbell was unanimously elected Secretary pro tern. On the suggestion of Mr Eton, it was decided to form a committee to ask the residents to assist the new club with donations towards holding an AnDual Sports, the following gentlemen being chosen:— Messrs Edgar Eton, S.Dixon, 0. A,Pownall, A. Vile, and D, Caselberg. Nothing further coming forward the meeting adjourned with a. vote of thanks to the chair,
