Jones, of Eketafcutw, wrote, saying that he had employment lor , an old man, who could do llghs work, , for a weekly wage and his keep ■ The Trustees, opon considerasioß, found that no suitable oereoa was at present on theii! books. A letter was received itom the i custodian of the Maaterton H<ispit!&i ■ regarding casual assistance rendered ■ to Edward Poole ; also a certificate from Dr Uosking, sayiog that the man 1 was unfit for work, t Dr Hosking wrote, stating tbftt he bad visited Mra H. Williams' child, 3 who was suffering from whooping ■ cough and bronchitis. The Police reported in reference to . • l an application for assistance from '" T Henry Barry, who received casual | help, tbatHbe man was destitute and ' not able to work in his pretest sea, dition.
An application for relief was ts* ceiled from J. A. Smith, a email settler of S'ern Terrace, Alftedtoa. He stated that ho had a wife ani four children dependant npon Lisa; also that he was a tailor by trade, w&s sixty years of age, and wag not capable of working for his Irring. The application was referred to the police for report, the matter to be subsequently dealt with by the Chainnea and the Secretary. Dr Hosking'g account was passed for payment, subjeot to revision. It wag resolved thai the proceeds Irons the sale of the late Mrs KeuTa sewing machine be invested for the benefit of the children, and that the Chairman's and Secretary's action in paying up the small helaace of instalments necesiary to secure the machine was & proper one. It was decided that any two Trustees, in coßJunctioh with the Secretary, should Big a cheques. The diary was .read, casual eases were reported upon, regular cases were considered, and the Secretary's action was confirmed. Belief, as at present given, was ordered for continuance until next maeuog, Mr W. G. Beard, solicitor, attended aad reported the position of the legal proceedings rsaaruing the claim against the Wangaaui Charitable Aid Board in connection with the Wil•l«ns family, and that she case was still open in the B.M. Const, pending the dasision of the Supreme Court. The Secretary, Mr Waddingtan, mentioned that John Neill, bad beea found temporary work in the Heater* ton Park and Cemetery. The meeting then terminated.
