MASTERTON PARK TRUST.
The quarterly meeting of the Masterton Park Trust was held yesterday afternoon, at 3.80 in tho Borough Council Chambers, there being present Messrs J, Pnylon (chairman), J. 0. Boddington, A, R. Bunny, E, Feist, and A, W. Renall, Mr Boddingion, on behalf of tho Trustees, cordially welcomed Mr Payton hack to Masterton, expressing pleasure at seeing him once more " v amongst them. Tho minutes of tho last quarterly meeting were read and confirmed. Tho Treasurer's report was read, showing a oredit balance of £lB Os 3d, REPORTS. J. C. Ingram reported tint the fence round tbo Park Oval wbb very much in need of ropair, and recommended that tho work be done, -A Mr Feist moved that tho matter of * repairing tho fecco bo left in the hands of a sub-committee, consisting of Alessra Boddington, Pnyton and the mover, with power to act. Mr Benall seconded and tho motion was carried, The Secretary informed the Trustees that tho ranger had requested bim to bring under their notice the slate of the roadway from the main gale to the oval. The estimated cost of gravelling (ho road would be about i £lO. I The matter was left in abeyance, no I funds being available for the work. GRAZINO, Mr Bunny objected to the Park being let for general grazing as he thought tho trees would be damaged by it. Mr Boddington said lie had seen tbo cow they had there until recently, looso on certaiti occasions and no damage had been done, He had been tbinking that more grazing would do
good to the Park by keeping down tlio grass and lessening the danger of fire. Mr Ronall considnrod that cows did moro barm than horses, especially whentho hob weather cnmo and the flies were troublesome. Mr Payton said thai a large .nob of hungry sheep, turned in for a niglit occasionally, would be the best way of keeping down the grnEß. Tho Secretary said that drovers objected to the Park as not being secure, owing to the gates not having locks, The Chairman said that complaints had been made about the Park beiDg opou all night. It mißht be woll to consider the advisability of closing it to the public after sundown, By putting up a notice to the effect that porsona found trespassing after sundown were liable to prosecution they would he in a position to take greater ♦ precautions against fire. 11 r Feist did not agree with closing the Park altogether at night, but advocated getting a lock for the gate in case of sheep being taken in. 41r Darley waited on the Trustees] tjo enquire if ho could run two cows in| me Park. He was prepared to pay 2s a week for tho privilege, After some discussion it was decided that Mr Darley. be allowed to run two cows iu the Park at 2s Cd por week, - No other business coming forward the meeting adjourned, i
