PIGEON SHOOTING.

The Pigeon Matches fired afMessrs Tiowes and lorns' sale yards, Masterton, on Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the North Wairaraps Gun Club, were productive of excellent sport and also afforded an exhibition of very fair all-round shooting. The attendance of members was good, and there was also present during the afternoon a sprinkling of the general public,

The Handicap Sweep (£4) was won by Mr A, A, Elkins, tho second piize (£2) falling to Mr J. M. Meredith. Mr D. Henderson won the President's Cup, after close shooting, a fire-off between Messrs Henderson, Meredith and Elkins being nocessary before finality was arrived at, The second Sweepstake Event was won by Mr J. M. Meredith, Mr Whatman being second; and a final Impromptu Scratch

Handicap was pulled off \>y Messrs J, C. Walker and D. Henderson, who each scored two out of thioo and divided the stakes, Tho following are the detailed scores:—

In shooting off for first and second places tho scores were D. Henderson 111-8; A.A.ElkinsllO-2; J.M. Meredith 10—1, Mr Henderson therefore won the President's Cup, with Mr Elkins second, the latter saving Ins stakes. Sweepstake of £3 5s (Ist prize 50j ; second 10s; 3rd ss)-Kve birds j two misses out.

In shooting off for second and thiid places the scores were K M. D. Whatman, 1; Morley, 0; H. Welch, 0, Mr Whatman therefore 6eoured second place, and Messrs Morley and Welch divided for third.
