Robbery at the Royal Hotel, Palmerston North.
Money and Valuable Papers #■ Stolen. [By Telegraph.—mess association.] Palmerbtok, Monday, Late on Saturday night, a caslibox containing £3816s in notes, gold and silver, also cheques and valuable papers,' representing about £3,000 was stolen from Mr G. Howe's bedroom at the Boyal Hotel. The proprietor made up his accounts as usual and placed the caslibox under his bed. He wont downstairs till a quarter past twelve, and then went to bed. His room looked allritjkt, but, in the morning be found that the cashbux had gone, evidently having been taken a short time after being placed under the bed and while Mr Howe was downstairs. Thecashbox has since been found destroyed in a paddock near the boundary road. The money wbb taken, but the papsrs were left inside. The robbery is believed to be the work of spielers,
