AKITIO ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Board was held on Thursday last. Present: Messrs Handyside, Foreman and Armstrong. This being the first meeting of the now Board Mr Handyside was elected Chairman for the year, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE, Tho following correspondence was read:—From the fcitook Department on the small bird nuisance. From the Audit Office applying for payment of account, £1 6s Bd, From Survoy Office ro the survey of roads to be legalised. From Minister of Lands re grant in aid to open Aohanga Valley road, From Commissioner of Taxes with statement of values of properties, Froai same, corrected, From Oplonial Secretary, stating that members were gazetted on the 18tb inst. From County Clerk, applying for statement of accounts to 31st March. From same re bonus to J, Anderson, From same re roads to be legalised, From same with accounts for engineer's serviceable, and roadwork at Mataikuna. ■>•■■•••' ' RESOLVED. That the account £B2 os7d claimed by the county for road making at Matai knna be passed for payment, but that the amount claimed for metalling be left over pending Mr Murray's attendance, ...
That in the absence of arccommendation from the Engineer ou the application this Board is not in a position to grant a bonus to J. Anderson, That the Minister of Lands be informed that there is about seven miles of road to form in Aohunga Valley, a portion of which is heavy rook cutting, and that ibis Board will spend about £ 2GO annually until it is open for tr«flic, GENERAL. The Clerk was directed to apply for payment of ilmda and fourths lo be nxpi'Utled on Aolianga Valley road, Messrs Hnndysido, Foreman and Armstrong were appointed to sign cheques. i The Tronsurer reported balance in hand and in Bank of £195 6b, The next meeting was fixed for the 10th inat. •
