TRAGIC RESULT OF A QUARREL.
Han Drowned in the Oroua, [By Telegraph.~PßEss association.] Palmerstoh North, September 5, A tragic affair happened on the bridge over the Oroua, about twelve miles from here, at a place known as Oroua Bridge. A man named Peter Williamß quarrelled with his mate James Head, and in the fight that ensued Head went over the bridge and into the river, The body has not yet been recovered, though it was seen afterwards floating down the river. The police went down to arrest Williams to-day. Later, The man, Peter Williams, who was skylarking with Head when the latter ivas thrown against the rail of the Oroua Bridge, has been arrested, and will be charged with manslaughter. The deceased fell on to the pass, a distanco of about four feet, and from ttieuco into the river, a further distance feet. The police are of opinion that Head broke his neck in the first fall.
