The Egmont Fanners' Union, Limited. Hawerai N.Z., September 1,1892. We had a fm'rly.large sale at Stratford on Friday, 26th ult,, when most of the cattlo advertised were offered for sale, These consisted almost entirely of dairy cows and heifers springins and in calf, and as this class of stock is in great request just now owing to the large development of the dairying industry, everything sold readily and at the following prices :- Springers, £5 to £7; cows and heifers in calf, msGd to £Bl7s j yearlings, £2 Gilo £2123. Our Horse Fair on Saturday, tbe 27th ult., was well attended, though the chief of the horses eubmiited | were not the kind in demand, being | mostly composed of hacks, whilst draught horses are greatly needed just j now in the district; still, despite these drawbacks, a largo number changed hands before leaving the yards. We quote draughts (unbroken), £7l2s Gd to £lls3;li«htliariiFs3 horses, £6 2s Gd to £18; good hacks, £5 lo £ll 7s Gd; hacks, £1 and upwards. At our Manaia salo held on Wednesday, the 81st ult., nearly 100 more cattle came forward for salo than were advertised, so that our yards were well filled. There was a good attendance present, and bidding was fairly brisk, but owing to high reserves in many cases being placed upon the cattle several lines left tho yards without changing hands, though a good deal of stock was sold under the hammer. We quote fat bullocks, £6 10s to £G 15s ; forward bullocks, £i 13s Gd to £5 18s; 18-months steers, £2 l'Os to £3 Gs; yearlings, £1 10s Gd to £2 4s; fat cows, U 12s to £5 17s Gd, springers, £4los to £O,
