Taratahi-Carterton Hack Racing Club.
The annual meeting of members was held at the Marquis of Normanby Hotel, Carterton, on Saturday evening, Thero was a good attendance, and Mr J, A. Kenall was voted to the chair,
The minutes of the last meeting wero read and confirmed. Tho balance sheet, which showed £ll4 to credit, was adopted, A letter was read from U, Shannon, of Wellington, offering his sorvices as handicapper, but nothing was done in the matter. -
Considerable discussion took placo as to the danger of allowing horses on the course, and ultimately it was decided that no horses, except those ridden by ladies, will bo allowed to be tied up on any part of the course, and those removed from vehicles must be transferred to a paddock. As many people object to placing their horses in yards, arrangements wero made with Mr W. B, Allen to provide a large paddock alongside the course. It was decided fb hold tho races as usual on 9tb November, and that the gates he again thrown open free to the public Messrs Ray, Proctor, and Allen were appointed a sub-committee to put the course in order. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year i—President, W, I). Buchanan, M.H.E.; Vice-President, N. Grace; Treasurer, W, B. Allen; Judge,': N. Grace; Starter, J. A. Renall; Stewards, 0. Kemble, W, B. Allen, R. Kemble, T. Kay, J. Strang, G, W. Doller, W. Strang, G. Carter, A, S. Grant, T. Grace, J. Davison, J, W, Proctor; Handicapper ; Olerk of Scales, 0. Kemble; Clerk of Oourso, J, W. Proctor; Timekeeper, W, 0, Williams.
The following programme was adopted ;—Hack Hurdle Race, of 25 80V8, soo'jnd lioraefi boys from Btikos j about one and a half miles, over six Sights bardies, Bft Gin high ; nomination ss, acceptance 10s, Hack Maiden Plate of 20 soys, second horßO 5 bovs from stakes; about one mile; weight for age, open to all horses that have never won a race of any description; entry 10s. Olareville Hack Handicap of 25 boys, second horse 5 80vs from stakes; about one railo; nomination ss, acceptance 10s. Open Taratabi-Carterton Handicap of 40 sovb, second horse 5 Bova from stakes; about 1-| miles; noro, 10s, accept, 20s. Railway Hack Handicap of 20 soys, second horse 5 sovb from stakes, about three-quarters of a mile, nomination 6s, acceptance sb, winner of Clareyille Hack Handicap to carry yiba extra, Op Flying Handicap of 30 soys, second horse B sovs frpro stakes, about three : q«arters of a mile) nomination 10,3, acceptance 'l'pV, Winner of T, O. Handicap to parry 71bs extra. Consolation Hack Handicap of lp sovs. About one mile, pomjnatiqn to be ma(o ten _ minutes after Railway Hack Handipap lias been run for. Entry ss.
