■ The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, 27th August, at 1,80 p.m. Present—Messrs C. Forsberg(ohairman),P. Anderson and J. Bannister.

Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and correspondence outward,^ The Commissioner of Taxes wrote, informing the Board that payment would be made of subsidy for 1891-2, £B9 15s 7s, and balance of £lO 13s 5d for 1890-1. A communication was received from the Awatere Road Board, onclosing petition to Parliament against the proposal of the Government to reduce the Subsidy to Local Bodies.—lt was decided to support the petition, and that tho Clerk write to the Member for the District to that effect.

Mr M, Kennedy wrote, requesting the Board lo clear slips on Dreyer's Bock Eoad,—lt was decided to do this and get the road open for wheel traffic as soon us weather would allow. It was also decided to aoceed to Mr J. W. Jackson's request to get tho bush felled on Cleland Road, but that nothing further can be done in tho way of clearing the road at present, Mr Angus McLeod interviewed the Board relative to spending his thirds in opening road through his sections.

Several settlers from Hastwell waited on the Board to request that tbe road leading from the old sawmill should be opened for wheel trafficAs the Board has at present no available funds for this road, the deputation (which included several settlers in tho Eketahuna district) were advised to get the Eketahuna Road Board to hand over the the thirds and fourths of settlers in their district, who would benefit by the opening of the road, to the Mauriceville Koad Board to be expended in clearing portion of the road through tho Hastwell Village Settlement.

A deputation of settlers interested in raising a loan to form Mount Bruce Road, waited on the Board.—lt was deoided to procure more explicit information as to the sections proposed to be rated and bring the matfer up at next meeting.

Tenders for forming MLro. Street were received as follows:—Huns Larson (accepted) £l4 ; P. 0. Madsen, £1710s; W. MoGruddy £2 4s per chain. Cheques amounting to £75 19s 8d were passed for payment. Bates collected since last meeting, £9 6a 3d,
