A deputation waited on tlio Mayor in support of the petition apking him to convene a public meeting to open up a further enquiry into the death of Plummer, killed by a constable at Hunua, TheMayorsaid tbatlherewas no wish to shirk enquiry, but he thought the matter wo a best loft to judicial authority. The meeting agreed that the Mayor should await the result of his telegram to the Minister of Justice before taking any steps, The Mayor premised if the reply was favourable to cull a public meeting,
