A Doetor Cuts His Throat

Wellington, Tuesday. Dr Robertson, a "well-known medico, called at the police station about ten o'clock last night and demanded police protection, asserting that some people had tried to stab him, and he only escaped by taking to bis heels. He appeared to be suffering from the effects of drink, and was detained at the station, a constable being placed in charge of him. This morning about five o'olook, he n r hd to be allowed to go to the rear, and while the constable's attention was not directed to him, he drew a lance from his pocket and inflicted a severe wound in bis throat.
Medical assistance was at omjfaC tninsd, and the wound stitohed up, after which Dr Robertson was removed to the Hospital. The wound is not believed to be dangerous unless inflammation sets in,
