A diabolical attempt was made today to wn-ck the train from Auckland near Hamilton, At O'Neill's road crowing two sleepers' were so placed that if one did not derail it the other would be successful in doing bo, It was scarcely the work of children, as
.t the sleejierc are too heavy, One was placejiwith the end down on the hollow of a cattle guard, with the other end projecting, so as to catch the wheels of the engine, Mr T. H, White, passing, saw tho obstruction, and removed it before the passage of tho train, and informed the police,
