A great number of enthusiasts attended the Oval on Saturday afternoon, expecting to see the Masterton and Star tearae meet again, but were disappointed. The Masterton team, for reasons best known to themselves, did not put in an appearance, and the Stars kicked off and claimed the game, A scratch match was afterwards played, with about twenty a side, D'Arcy captaining the one and Ginders the other. A good rough and tumble game was witnessed, the water pools proving a source of enjoyment for the spectators. D'Aroy potted a goal from a mark, 0. Perry placed another from a'free kick, and McKenzio gained a try, This was all tho scoring, leaving D'Aroy's team victorious by nine points to nil. Mr 0. A. Pownall acted as referee:
The following fifteen and eighteen have been selected to play in a representative practice at Carterton on Saturday next, in view of the match with Wellington on September 3rd: Fifteen—D'Aroy, E. Some diaeaLiefwction has been caused by the non-inclusion of mom bora of the Masterton Club in the Junior Representative team to play Wellington on Saturday next, Some of the members of this Olub are undoubtedly deserving of a place, and the Match Committee has been blindTo its own interests in overlooking them, Wynyard, of Wellington, has not recovered from an acoideat which he received in tho last trial practice, and will be unable to play against Canterbury. J. Bauuiber will take his place as half-back. The Auckland Rugby Union matches were continued on Saturday, In the match first fifteens of tho Paroell v, Grafton, the former won by 21 to 9. In Suburban v, City, tho latter won by 8 points to nil, . The interprovincial match between Marlborough and Nelson took place on Saturday afternoon, and after a very fast and exciting game resulted in a win lor tho former by two tries to nil. There was a large concoursß of spectators present.
