Egmont Farmers' Union's ' Stock Report.
The EgmoQt Farmers' Union, Limited, writing fiom Haweraon 18th August, report as under ;
We had a busy time at our Stratford sale on Friday, the 12th instant, when nearly double the number of cattle advertised came forward for sale, the majority of the stock consisting of cows and heifers in calf, These all sold readily, as there were plenty of buyors present and competition was keen. We quote springers, £5 10a to £6lss; fat cows, £4153 to £5; 18 months steers, £3 5s to £i 7s 6d; yearling heifers, £2 5s to £2loa. Our fortnightly stock sale atMnnaia was held on Wednesday, the 17th instant, All the yards were well filled with cattle of a useful class, about 500 head being submitted, besides a small line of sheep, There was a good muster of buyers presents that fat bullocks were eagerly competed for, whilst all other kinds of stoek sold readily. With the exception of two or three lines, on which high reserves had been placed, everything changed hands before leaving the yards. We quote cattle: fatbulhcks, £6los to £6 16s; 2to 2\ year steers, £4 to £4lßs; 12 to 18 months steers, 422s to£3 4s;fat cows, U 17s 6d to £6 12a 6d; springers, £4 2s Gd to i 6 2s 6d; heifers in calf, £8 12s Cd to £i- yearling heifers, £2 2s to £2 15s; sheep: 2,4 and 6 tooth wethers, lls9d.
