N UNFORTUNATE MISTAKE.

The Wrong Man,

An unfortunate mistake has been made by the Auckland Evening Star , in its publication of the telegram sent yesterday by the Press Association in reference to the warrant issued for the arrest of Curl Mooller, cabinetmaker, of Wellington for forgery. It appears that by some mistake, either in transmission or in the Star Office, tho telegram was published last evening as referring to Carl Zoeller. A gentleman of this name is a resident in Auckland, and holds a responsible situation as traveller for the firm of Leegner, Langguth and Co., of that city, He is at present in Wellington and at a few minutes to 8 last night was considerably startled by receiving' a telegram from his principals to the following effect :-'- ! Star telegram says warrant out for your arrest, forgery, Don't belioveij, Wiro instantly, waiting.' A; may be expected Mr Zoeller lost no time in replying, and he replied very emphatically, ' It's a lie; got explanation,' At a few minutes past nino back came another telegram, 'All right, warrant against Mooller, cabinetmaker. Go instantly to Press Association requesting contradiction all over the Colony. Apparently their mistake. Never believed, it,' Mr Zoeller subsequently waited on Mr Alack, manage 1 r'of the United Press by' 'that "gentleman' "that the Association, ' and was informed telegram was sent put as' referring to Carl Moeller'; He" knew nothjngas to how the name oame to bg altererj. It remains tfil'B wlieto tho mistake, whicb is of course a very painful one to Mr Zoeller, occurred. We are informed that it was intensi- [ fled by the Star supplementing the , telegram by appending full particulars ' of Mr Carl Zpeller's antecedents and ' present employment.—N,Z, Times,
