In the R. 11, Court lln'3 afternoon, William Thomas Tait, who was sued by David Dixon on a judgment summons, was arrested op a' oliargp of perjury; l 'ln batojj erbta-examineo; by-Mr Pownail, 'fait* swore distinctly and positively that be had never been married to Mary Tufijey by .'the Kpgistrar ut Dunedin, although be adipiitpd haying lived witli hpr at Tapanuj. MV Popall' tbpn pro : duced the marriage pertifleate of 000 iTbpjnap Wai, Tait, whoso birthplace X and parentage corresponded with that .*' of the defendant, showing that he had been married to Mary Tuffley in: 1.886. After the civil action had been dealt with Mr Pownail asked that an order to made for the committal of the defendant on a charge of perjury.
