(By Diogenes,) ' The Secretary of tho Wairarapn Rugby Union has received a communication from the Bush Union with reference to the plaji.ig of a representative match at Pahiatua before tho close of tko>-season, It will bo ro« membered that a Bush team visited Mastcrton last year. The Secrotary of tho Wairarapa Union informs mo that the Senior Cup match, Masiorton v. Greyiown Rivals, has been fixed to be played nn Saturday next. In view of the match Married v. Single to bo played at Greytown, howover, it is extremely i. improbable that tlm Southerners will together a team, and the match 'will therefore go hy default. At a meeting of tho Canterbury Rugby Union the other evening it was resolved " That a letter be sent to the New South Wales nnd English Rugby Unions repudiating any connection with the New Zealand Rugby Union, and that a letter be sent to the Oiago Union endorsing their opinion iu tho matter." The New Zealand Rugby Union in formed the English and New South Wales football authorities three months ae,o that neither Oiago nor Canterbury was associated with them, Considerable excitemont is being; caused in conned ion with the match to be played at tho Greytown Recreation Reserve on Saturday next between the married and sinyle teams of that town. The losing team is to provide a dinner lor the winners, Almost every man in Greytown may Ale seen with the colours of the resi* pective teams in his buttonhole, those supporting the married wparing red ribbon, and the oihers blue, Yesterday the dog owned by tho Secretary of the former team b«d a red stienmer round his neck, and subsequently two pieces of blue were attached to the red, It is expected that before Saturday the bedecked dog will find locomotion a matter of exircrae difficulty if honors are so heaped upon him,
