MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Committee Mings, A meeting of the Works and finance Committees of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening, there being present Ore Heron, (Chairman), Gapper, Hessey and E, E. Chamberlain. The overseer reported that the dirt had been cleaned up from the school to Euripuni; Queen-street had been repaired to the mill dam ; Hall-street had been repaired; some filling had been done at the back of the Bank of New Zealand; the footpath in Halltct,and portions of that in Quecnet had been repaired; Southwas repaired with broken metal; Dixon-street contract had been delayed owing to the bad weather. He recommended that the metalling be gone on with in Short-street, Railway road and Upper Plain road. (tho metalling of Queen«street would be completed in a' few days. There were about ten chains oh the east, and eoven chains feocing on the west side of the Waipoua river required, Mr Adams would do the ten chains if the Council did tliti other, and would keep the river fei.ee in repair for £1 per annum. Ho would recommend that Mr Adams' offer be accepted,. The recommendations of the over's teer were adopted, The Overseer was instructed to repair tho road fronting Mr Carey's premises in Hall Street, He was also instructed to put in an approach to Mr J, Moore's property. The matter of the West Bush road was ordered to stand over, psnt'ing the motion given by Cr Hessey. ■Ljfss decided to make no recomnwation re Kirton Street. It was resolved to recommend that Bruce Street be made and the Trustees asked if they will contribute one half the cost of a kerbed footpath on tlin south side. A number of accounts were recommended for payment,
