NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.

Proposed Trip to /inerica. (By Telegraph Press Association.) Wellington, Thursday. Mr Hoben, the Secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union, has suggested to the Committee of the Chicago Exposition the holding of an International Rugby Football Tournament at the World's Fair, in which a New Zealand team would take part, The suggestion has bren approved of by the Premier, who has forwarded an introductory letter with MrHoben's suggestions, expressing the desire of the Government that they should be adopted. The proposals are that the New Zealand team, which will probably leave here at the end of July, 1898, shall play in Australia in August, the United Kingdom in October, November, mid December, return via the States with an English team, play Harvard, Yale, and Princeton Universities in New York, etc., and at Chicago meet an English and American team combined, the American Universities, and Canadian teams, returning to New Zealand in Maroh, 1894. Mr Hoben's enquiries indicate that if tbe proposals are adopted, the team will be welcomed in the States, where Rugby football has made great strides of late, and is now the fashion able game. The tour would also meet tbe desire of the English Union to popularise the game in America,
