Wellington, Monday; A deputation from the Municipal Conference waited on the Premie* thiß morning, Mr Bell, Mayor of Wellington, who aoted as spokesman brought before him • the various amendments whioh the Conference, f suggested should be made in the me|g suresaffecting municipal bodies whioh were to be introduced in the House this session, In replying Mr Ballanoo said the Government appreciated'the labors of the Conference, and were prepared lo give every consideration to their deliberations, As to the Local Authorities Audit and Accounts Bill he agreed with the Conference that the olauae with referenoa to the liability of members of local bodies was too stringent and amendments should accordingly be made, He explained that the measure was really an Audit Office measure which the Government had taken up, and he would undertake to have it again referred to the Publio Accounts Committee. With reference to the Fire Brigades • Bill he thought it went too far in oompelling the Insurance Company's to contribute towardstho maintenance ot Brigades, but he would lay the re>' • solutions of the Conference on the point before the Cabinet. The Pre* mier agreed to thejsuggestion of tlfcConference that the Hawkers Pedlars Bill should provide for the fines being paid into the Local Revenue, and not into the Console dated Fund,
