PROPOSED CENTRAL DAIRY FACTORY.
Meeting of Farmers.
A particularly well-attended mooting, convened by Mr L. Caselborg, Director of the Wairarapa Farmora' Co-operative Association, Limited, of settlers interested in tho dairying industry was held in the Dreyerton School-room last night. Mr Alexander Stewart occupied the chair.
Mr Caselborg briefly explained the object of the meeting, which was to establish a Butter Factory or Creamery it sufficient inducement offered, and that the Association he represented was prepared to pay 3d per gallon fot milk for eight summer months and 3jd per gallon for four winter months, provided sufficient quantity was forthcoming. He also mentioned that tho present idei was to have one Creamery at Dreyerton, another at Opaki, with a Central Factory and Oreamory at some place conveniently situated on tho railway lino in the vicinity of Masterton, say at Kurupuni, to which the supplies of the branches could be railed each morning,
After eorne discussion, during which several of the farmers present expressed themselves satisfied with the liberal and enterprising notion the Wnirarnpa Farmers Go • operative Association was taking, Mr G. Tait moved a resolution expressive of concurrence with the prico offered by the Association. This, seconded by Mr Roderick MeKcnzie, was put and carried unanimously. At this atago tho milk supply of a large numbor of cons was guaranteed in the room, and it is expeoted that the requisite numbor will be made up within a week's timo or so. Mr G. fl. Clarke then proposed thai tenders be called provisionally for a suitable Bite. Seconded by Mr R. Elade and carried. The next resolution moved by Mr 0. Tait was that " near Dreyerton Railway Station is a suitable place tor a factory," seconded by Mr G. H. Clarke and carried.
It was resolved that the Hit of those who desired to guarantoe the milk supply should be left open for another week. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to tho Chairman, those present seeming much pleased with the unanimity which had prevailed and the business which had been done during the evening.
