MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Fortnightly Meeting. Tbo usual fortnightly meeting of the Mastertor. Borough Council was held in the Chambers last (Tuesday) evening, there being present Crs Gapper (in the chair). Perry, Feist, E. Chamberlain, Dixon, and Hessey. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, CORRESPONDENCE. From the Town Clerk of Wellington, asking if tbo Council had raised a lop.ii under the Act of 1886.—The Clerk Baid ho had replied that the Council had not borrowed under this Act.
From John Kirbon, stating that he bad twice registered his dop, and asking for a refund of the registration foe, -On the motion of Or Foist, seconded by Cr Dixon, it was decided to refund the fee as requested, the Chairman pointing out that the ease should not bo accepted as a precedent, From the Palmerston N. Borough Council, enclosing propositions with reference to rates, the Local Bleotions Act, auditing of accounts, and fencing of private streets, to he submitted tu the Municipal Conference, and requesting the support of the Council to the same,
From Mr John King, architect, stating that he had not had time to complete the plans for the alterations to tha Institute, but that they were sufficiently far advanced to allow of Bungestiona or amendments being made—lt was resolved that the Building Committee be empowered to make what alterations they think proper, and instruct Mr King to call for tenders for the work. WORKS COMMITTEE, The Clerk reported that the usual meeting of the Works Committee had not been held, a quorum not being presont, The Chairman suggested that the meetings of the Works Committee should be held as soon after the meetings of tho Council as possible, It was decided that matters requiring atteution be referred to the Chairman of tho Works Committee with power to aot. ACCOUNTS. Accounts as presented were passed for payment. THE MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE. The proposals of the Palmerston North Borough Council, to be submitted to the Municipal Conference, were considered. It was resolved to request the delegate of the Council to support some of the proposals, and others were left to his discretion, The meeting then adjourned.
