ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT.
The Baggett Charges With' drawn, [By Telegrapb.—Press Association,] Wellington, Wednesday. The charges of alleged embezzlement against Mr Baggett were called on tbiß morning, The only evidence offered was that of Mr Merchant, sioner of Crown Lands, in OanterDury, and formerly of Wellington, who de. sired to explain that he was not aware of the scrip transactions which foimed the sabjeot of the recent conspiracy charge, The accused was then discharged, All the informations against Baggett haye been withdrawn. Tbo Controller General will investigate the bead office accounts, and in the even', of any surplus in Baggett'a accounts the amount will be paid him; if there is a deficiency Baggett agrees to mako Jtgood,
