THE LATE SIR HARRY ATKINSON.

Funeral at Wellington. Mourning at New Plymouth. (By Telegraph.—Press Association,) Wellington, Thursday, The remains of the lute Sir Harry Atkinson were.interred in the Karori cemetery this morning. The corttge, which was one of the largest seen here, left Newtown at ten o'clock. The Governor was represented by his AAide-de-Camp. The principal mourrners were Lady Atkinson and family. Justice and Mrs .Richmond, all the members of the Government, and both branches of the Legislature were present, also the leading clergy, principal citizens, heads of the Civil Service, volunteers, police, and officers of H.M.B. Ringargoma. At St, Mark's Church the burial pervjee was read, after which (he procession proceeded to Jlarori. At points of vantage were thronged with spectators, and the main thoroughfares were crowded. The officers of the Govern' ment Insurance Department attended in body. New Plymouth, Thursday, A,meeting was held last night at which the. -Major presided, when it was decided to observe to-day as a day of mourning out of respect to the late Sir Harry Atkinßon. The shops' are all dosed, and the flags are half mast high. At eleven o'clock the Yolnnteers and the Major's old comrades met in Devon-street, when the Volunteer band played the Dead March, and St * Mary's Church bell tolled.
