li/lultum in Parvo. An Eight Hours Bill is to bo introduced by Mr W. Hutchison, The second reading of tho Coroners' Inquests Bill is set down for Thursday week,. John Aldridge, convicted at Gisborne before Judge Edwards in November, 1890, and sentenced to five years' imprisonment for the forgery of a £ls oheque, is petitioning for his release on the ground that he was never tried and sentenced by a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand. Mr T. McKenzie is to bring in a motion for the abolition of the Stock Tax. It is understood that Government will not increase the amount of the progressive tax or the tax on land first proposed, and should the revenue want it, will increase the exemption allowed for improvements,
