Christchoroh, June 28. A- public tneetinf, convened by sympathisers with the hotelkeepere whose licenses were refused by the Sydenham Committee, was held this evening in the Oddfellows' Hall. The building was densely crowded. The Mayor presided, and Messrs J. .Ollivier, W. Langdown and other -J speakers addressed tbe meeting. The Revl.M. Isilt and other prominent prohibitionists spoko in opposition to the resolutions.; Their followers were present ra. considerable numW'aud opposed all" the resolutions,- which, howew, were carried by considerable majorities, except the third one, the majority for which was . small. The resolutions dignation at the unjust and arbitrary decision of the committee' in closing all hotels in Bydenbam, requested 1 Parliament to legislate immediately for protecting .the property of oitizens carrying on a legitimate business updor'tbp 'sanction and direction of )*w,arid for compensating ; them for the losses inflicted on them by aj] irresponsible tribunal. The last resolution requested tho chairman to forward copies of the resolutions to tho Government and all members of Parliament.'
