[By Telegraph.—Preßs Association,] Napier, June 28. Horace Lewis Wood, for the larceny of two saddles and other articles, was sentenced to five years 1 imprisonment. Fourteen previous convictions were recorded against him. Timaru, June 28. The criminal sessions were over in throe hours, five out of seven prisoners pleading guilty. Only one was tried—tbe .housemaid of a hotel, for stealing money from the bedroom of a fellow 5 servant. She was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, An t implication for probation was refused, as she supported a false declaration by perjury, Oamahu, June 28. At the Supreme Court to-day there were seven prisoners for trial. All were for minor offences, except a oharge of rape from Oamaru, Hi 3 Honor read the depositions of the prosecutrix, a girl just under 15, and expressed surprise at anyone being committed on such evidence.
