A meeting of the Programme Committee of the Masterton Agricultural and Pastoril Association is to be held on Saturday next, to revise the programme for the forthcoming show. MrW. Whitt requests that all accounts owing to him to date, be paid to Messrs Lowes and lorus, whose receipt will be a sufficient discharge. A publio meeting is to be held in the Masterton Presbyterian Ohurohon Wednesday evening, at which an important resolution will be submitted on the question of "The Liquor Traffic in the King Country" Addresses will be delivered by the Revs. K. Wood and J. Dukes. The latter gentleman has lived for three years in the Waikato, on the borderland of tho King Country, and is thus fully acquainted with the circumstances of the whole case. Petitions over twenty feet in length, and containing in all 540 signatures of women In favour of female franchise, were posted last night by the Rev J. Dufes, of Masterton, (or presentation to both Houses of Parliament, Mesdames Gillespie, Burton and' Dukes havo workedhard to secure the signatures, but for want of time have loft many houses in Masterton unvisited. There are hundreds! of miserable, hungry-looking curs lurking about the streets of Masterton which ought at once to be destroyed. A resident was leaving the telegraph office this morning when two of these unregistered brutes which had been sleeping on the steps jumped in front of him and threw him heavily to the footpath, causing a caety injury to his hip and a sprain of his hand.
