Palmersion, Monday. A disastrous lire occurred in thai Square at 8 «,m. yesterday, resulting in the loss of upwards of £4OOO. The lira broke oat at the rear of tho premises of Mr Montagu, auctioneer, and Mr Sorwall, cabinetmaker, and within half an hour these.were completely destroyed, None of tbe stock wa| saved, The premises of Messrs Col- .± ville and Pprrington, saddlers, wprp guttedandl those of Mr Salmon; jailor, | partly, Tho stock'from the two last was saved, but greatly damaged by its * removal and the rain which was falling at the time.' The stock of Mr Cook, cabinetmaker, 1 Mr Olson, tailor, and Messrs Wickew& Co, drapers; in tbe bluck, wjs also removed and suffered, damage in 6ome. way... ; The ■ Bank of l}ew sealand bad a encape, being cQngiderabTy .
