CORRESPONDENCE.

Women.

[to the'editor, wair&iupa .daily TIMES,]

Ite Sir,—l was greatly amused at the suggestion made by Mr A, W. Hogg, M.H.R., the other night, that before many years had passed the marital relation to the weaker sex would be completely changed, What does our member mean ? la he a convert of Bellamy, the author of " Looking Backward," or does lie really prosume to s&y that tho" pore workin' man" will take to tho scrubbing brush and w'aih'tub'and send his better half bush-whaoking at 25s per aore or to the railway works at 9s per day? Nay I am rather inclined to think that our esteemed representative allowed his fertile imagination to soar high above the realm of his judgment. I'orwhat earthly connection has the marital relation with Women's Suffrage ? If the women are given the franchise, is it to be thought for a moment that • they will turn upon their protectors and avenge themselves for the oppressions of the past? Never I They are too full of human sympathy. The time has arrived when the womon , should have a voice in the framing of laws which so directly affect them, • and it ii a crying shame that tho Liberal Qovemmentshould bedormant in the matter merely for the sake of retaining office, There are hundreds in this district who will be anxious to know if Mr Hogg puts into effect during the coming session the sentimerits recently expressed by him in the Theatre Royal,—l am, etc, Adam.
