Hikmr Stock Sale,
Messrs Cuningham, Badham and ' Co, held a clearing salo of stock, horses, implements, etc., at Miramur on Tuesday and Wednesday on account of H, D. Crawford, Esq., when they submitted nearly 800 head of cattle. The fact that the Governor arrived in Wellington on the first day of the sale had the effect of keeping away others than ' bonl fide buyers, but a good number * of settlers from both the East and West Coast districts were present, and the bidding was, ia consequence, fast and furious; somo idea of which may be gathered from the fact that nearly , 800 head were submitted singly and {ftfeposed of in four and a half hours. The dairy stock was first offered, and the dairymen present realising the well-known quality of the oattle and the difficulty of procuring milk at this season of the yaar, were on tho alert to avail themselves of siich a rare opportunity, Cows in milk realised from £5 to £l2, springers, fron £6 to £B, and dry cows from £3 to £5 10s, Ayrshire bulls were not so much sought after, and some of them did not rench the owners reserve, but with the exception of a few they wero all quitted. The remainder are now for private sale, Weaners realised £2, 18-montliß old heifers £3, and horses from £9loa to £l2. Dairy Utensils, etc., were all cleared.
