CONCERT AT EKETAHUNA.
A Successful Affair.
A conoert was held at Eketaliuna on Tuesday evening under the auspices of the Eketahuua Football Club, which was.a complete success. The ■programme was opened by Master James Olaysbn siiiging that popular football ditty, '."On iho Ball," with a ohorus of'footballers behind the scenes, marked more by good intention than musio, Mr Hobson, (the ffoodville skipper) then proceeded to take the popular" Kathleen" home, and succeeded so well that he had to escort her again by repeating the last verse, Miss Graham ohacmed the audienoe by.iher capital flinging and had to respond, to au encore. Mr Drew sang " Where did you get that hat?" with' banjo accompaniment, for whioh he was vociferously encored. Miss Olays'on played a fantasia of popular airs on the piano very, nicely. Mr Hart Bang " In our back yard last night "in cbMotery and wasencored, Mr Hughes delighted the audience by his comic song, "I can't forget my Marlha," and was encored, This brought' the 6rst part to a oloso. ; Mrs Maurisell opened the second, part with a pianoforte solo. Miss Finlay, who is the possessor of a.sweot voice, sang.'! Rock'rne .to sleep". with: gqod effect! : Mr J.'Palling;followed iyitl) that old Scotch ballad " Building castles in the air," Miss Williams then rendered "Robin Adair," and was deservedly encored. Mr'Hughes sent tho.audience into convulsions of laughter wi&a couple of character songs, Mr Drwooll danced the sailor's hornpipe: splendidly, and it was redemanded.,: A song by Mr Drew, and one uuui ""« «mi»am concladed'.the .entertainment, which was:altogether a} g'rput success,'''
