The rain it fell and the wind it blew; but Btill guests came in numbers fast increasing, for was it not the Dance at Greytown—the first of the season ? Soon mustered there in Palace Hall full three hundred lovers of tho mazy movement and, young hearts beat fast, old ones throbbed yet one'throb again; and even tho Ancient Order of Wall-flowers-poor faded blossoms I—sighed their poor hearts away in delighted passion a dozen times a minute. Then came the Masterton contingent in gallant coach>and-lour (there were horses only two; but why need say it ?) and bravely did he ( drive, that " accomplished amateur , whip,'' for has ho not added , a halo to. all bis other glories. , They arrived tliero safely some , peoplo have such luck I—and then enjoyment came, ( Three hundred dancers, one hundred ( and- fifty gazers on: total four-fifty strong, Surely a record forthe- Hospital Dance; but Grey town played to win, and even the elements were defied. Youth, fashion, beauty, all were there and much to charm beside,. Twenty-seven dances; what, a programme! T'was "five" when all was done. Did they enjoy themselves 1 Well, quote wo Shakespeare 1 " There's not a headacho in a week of itl 1 ' The supper 1 Never better I— a banquet for a king. The music I It was nn inspiration of joy : There was life in every, bar, To whom give thanks for so much Ijleasure: The Secretary, Mr F. H, Wood—none better. The ladies: Well, thoro you have, me, for I- am a ] bashful man. Still credit.to them, though it needs not me to say it. The verdict: May wo have many another—" and so say all of us."
