MASTERTON HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
The Monthly Meeting.
The monthly, meeting of the Masterton Hospital Trustees was held in tho Institute yesterday, there being present Messrs J.- C. Boddington (Chairman), B. P. Perry, J. B. Keith, G.S.W. Dalrymple and the Rev father JrM'lenna.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a oredit balance of £206 7s6d, ■ -. A donation of B 6s from the Rev J. 0. Andrew, of lea," blood money for'damßgedone by dogs," was re« ceived and acknowledged with thanks, Dr Hosking, the Hospital surgeon, wrote with reference to a patient suffering from a chronio complaint who had sought admission to the Hospital The man had been domiciled in Napier, and appeared to be quite impecunious.-The Chairman said he had interviewed the man und found that he had come to town with monoy, Ho had only been a .few woeks in the distriot, He had gone to'*a publichouse and subsequently found bimscli lying out in a paddook with his money gone. He (the Chairman) thought that under the Act the ban could be admitted to the Hospital and the Napier Trustees charged with his maintenance. It might be a Benevolent Society ca?e, but there was no doubt the man required attention,— Mr Dalrymple ''did not favour admitting the man and. charging; the Napier his keep, This; would cut both,(|ays.—On the motion of Mr Keith'it was resolved that the man be admitted to the Hospital, and that JDr Hosking le thanked for his aolipn in the matter.
Tho Hospital diary was read, II was decided on'the recommendation ol Dr Hosking to procure an estimate ol tho cost of post modem instruments.
The Chairman staled that the first tender received for additions to the Mssterton Hospital had exceeded the estimates of the architect. Fresh tenders had therefore been called, and that ot Mr John Montgomery acceptrd. It had been decided to lath and plaster the interior of the new buildings. The total cost of the additions would be £164.
The following amounts were passed for payment:—John Duihie, £{ 7s 8(1; J. Payton & Co., 9s; Jas, Muir, £l4s; Jas. Thompson, £2 5s ;.G. Johnston, £l7 9s 6d; R. P. Temple and Co., £7 4s 6d ; G. Johnston, £\ lb 2d; Gbaraberlpin Bros., £2 Gaßid; H.Jones, fllfis 11; W. Perry Ji 78-6(1.
The Custodian reported the number of patients in the Hospital to be five males. Four males had been admitted during the month and seven discharged, including three who had died, MrDalrjmple moved, "That the present assistant, John Coffey, be appointed wardsma'n to the Hospital." He moved this to give the assistant a better status in the hospital than he had'at present,—Mr Keith seconded. -Carried.
Mr Dalryrupie was appointed visiting member for the ensuing month! The patients' accounts were considered and the Trustees went into Committee,
