CHRYSANTHEMUM BALL AT GREYTOWN.
The Chrysanthemum Ball in aid of ; the funds of tlio Greytovvn Horticul- , tural Society was held in the Palace i Theatre last evening. The attendance was largo, iilthqugh the weather was not as fine as it might havo been, 1 About forty couples wero on the floor, ' ami tho gallery was well filled with j onlookers, The hall was very prettily . decorated with chrysanthemums and 1 evergreens. A wreath of tho former, I entwined with ferns, etc,, Was stretch'd ' across tho gallery, and looked exceedr ingly beautiful. 'Hie fair sex wore 1 wreaths in their hair and carried bon • " quels, whilst tliegontlomon each hail ft flower in his buttonhole. Messrs St. r George, N, King, and W. C. Nation s acted as M.C.'s. A well arranged pvoi' gramme wits gone through, and a sub"' r stautiai' supper heartily partaken of. ' TheCoramitteeand Secretary (MrJ.L. L ' .Rees) deserve great praise fur the able |[ manner in which they worked the - affair up, especially as it is only aboo t p a week ago thai the ball was decided y U |,an, It is thought that the proceed.' !t will be sufficient to cover the loss sustained at tho Show,
