The fortnightly meeting.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was held in the Chambers last (Tuesday) evening, there being present Ors Heron (in the chair), E. and T. Chamberlain, Feist and Mutrie, Apologies for absence were read from His Worship the Mayor and Cr Gapper. OORRESPONDENOE. ;Mr A, W, Reuall wrote, stating that the width oi the proposed culvert in Dixoh-street would not be sufficient 10 permit of the water passing through it from his mill.T-The matter was referred : to; the Works Committee with power to aot. Fromß.F. Temple, asking if the Council wanted any more coment, as he wished to close his contract,—lt was resolved to inform Mr Temple that the Council has n sufficient supply, From Dixon Bros, Ohapel-street, and;F. King, Worksop road, asking that gas be laid on at their premises. —Requests granted. CHARITABLE AID.

The United District Charitable Aid Board wrote, informing the Council that the demand from that body for ihe year would be £149 2s 9d.

The Clerk stated that the amount required was about £8 a year more than last year.

The matter was left in the hands of His Worship the Mayor and the Town Clerk,

Applications from Messrs P. Oill andE, B. Hureforgastobe laid on at their premises were granted.' ' HEW ROADS, . Ore E, Feist and E. Chamberlain were appointed a Committee to sign a memorial to the Governor regarding certain new roads,
