MEETING OF CREDITORS.

A, Riwse, of Eketahuna, ' bankrupt, was to have been held this (Tuesday) morning, but as only two creditor? were present the meeting was informal, The Official Assignee,who presided, stated that although the required number of creditors was not present the bankrupt could lie examined. The bankrupt, under examination by Mr Bunny, stated: The statement filed by me .is complete, and shows all tlie property I have. It al6o shows the whole of my liabili ties. 1 Lave paid L 7 since I filed, in Court and filing fees, I paid Mr Tabuteau £1 on a dishonored cheque. I got the £1 from Mrs Kowse, who has account. I paid nobody else money. I have been about sixteen months incurring my liabili" -ties. 1 have known for about six that my business has not been paying. My principal creditor is the Wholesale Drapery Company. I offered to pay them £ls a month in bills, but they would not accept this. The liability to Mrs Rowse was for money lent to meet Mr Dickson's bills. Ido not kuow what estate my wife possesses. She might havo £2O. 1 have paid her 7s Gd a week out of i the business for the past three months, Mr Joseph Skinner was an employee of mine until he started m business, We were both in the same shop. Mr Skinner had the grocery portion of the business and I the drapery. Mr Skinner paid ino eight shillings a week for rent and I paid Mr Macara £l, There was no partnetßhip between myself and Skinner. My furniture is worth £23. I have two sowing machines hired from Mr Cullen, which are worth £l2 each. My father lent me £IOO at various times, ou which I agreed to pay interest. I paid Mr Edmondson, woollen merchant, £5 three days before I filed, I paid Mr Edmondson before I received the summons from Abe Wholesale Drapery Company. I Mr Wilton, chemist, of Wellington, £0 for commission on patent medicines sold, I have not included in my assets the wedding presents of •my wife. I have no idea of the value of Mr Skinner's etock-in-trade. I have paid nobody cash for goods received lately excepting Mr Murray, I have no offer to make my creditors, By Mr Beard : I was persuaded to take over the business at Eketuhuna by Mr Dickson for £3BO. 'l'he business was purchased in December, 18D0. The amount owing has been reduced ever since. I made an offer of £ls a month to the Wholesale Drapery Company, but this was not accepted at the time, The Company agreed afterwards to accept the offer with interest and guaranteed security. My expenses of living have been about £2 a week, including rent. By Mr Bunny: I paid more for the business than it was worth to oblige Mr Dickson. Mr Dickson did not stop my credit before he died. The Assignee was instructed to realise the estate, and the meeting adjourned.
