CARTERTON LIBRARY.

Annual General Hooting. The annual general meeting of tlie subscribers to the Carterton Library was held last night. Mr Win. Booth was in the chair, and between thirty and forty subscribers were present. The Secretary (Mr Pownard) submitted the report and balance-sheet, which was adopted, showing a credit balance of £BBl7s Id. The sum of £4olßs 2d had been spent for new books during the year, which were on board the Tongariro and expected daily. Mr W. 0. Buchanan, M,H,R„ was re-elected Patron, and Mr Win. Booth Pri sident and Chairman. r l'hefollowing gentlemen werenomij/ sated for the Committee for the enk suing year Messrs J. H. Brann, E. W. Dorset, G. A, Fairbrother, A, Armstrong, J. A. Dudson, J. W. Midclleton, Downard, Quaintroll, Dr Johnston, and Skey. The following six wero elected Messrs J. H. Brann, E. W. Dorset, 6. A, Fairbrother, Quoinlrell, Downard, and Dr Johnston, Messrs James Brown and Rupert Fairbrother acted as scrutineers, It was resolved, that this meeting convey their unanimous appreciation of the services rendered to tho Library by Mr 0, R, Carter, through his willingness to select suitable books. Mr L, Nix moved, and Mr G. W, Dollar seconded, that the Library be open on Saturday afternoons for the convenience of country subscribers, —The Committee promised to give the matter their earnest consideration.
