A meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union was held at the Marquis of Kormanby Hotel, Carterton, last evening, delegates from all the clu'is except Carterton being present. Mr K. J. Malcolm was voted to' the chair, and explained tliat as the late Secretary, who hud been removed from the district, had not forwarded the books and papers belonging to the Union, the minutea of the last meeting could not be read, nor had they any idea of the financial position of the Union, Under the circum stances little or no business could be done that evening, Mr H, Wilsone, who had been appointed Secretary pro km, sentia a short report, Mr -EvJrMareolm was" appointed' Secretary. and Treasurer and Mr Ginder? delegate to tho N.Z. J'ugby Union. After some discussion it was decided to alter the Union colours to dark and light blue stripes, with dark pants. The Secretary was instructed to secure the books and papers of the Union and call a meeting of dslegates at once. The meeting then adjourned. At the annual meeting of the English Wugby Union the following method of scoring was adopted -k try shall equal two points; a penalty goal shall equal three points; a goal from a try (the try not also to count) shall equal five points; any other goal four points, The law relating to dead ball was fixed as follows 1 A player when on side may take up the ball at any time except—(l) In a scrummage. (2) When the ball has been put down after it has been fairly held. (8) When it is on the ground aftera player has been tackled.' CnmsTcnußCH, April 5. The meeting of the Canterbury Eugby Union hold this evening de* tided to test tho feeling of the Southem Unions before taking any final steps in regard to becoming affiliated to the New Zealand Eugby Union. Dunedin, April 6. The annual report of the Eugby ' Football Union states that there is a credit balance of 1280 Gs 7d. Thirty--three clubs are now associated, and there is a likelihood of the number being increased during the year.
