The prisoner denied all knowledge of the money, and Beeraed highly indignant at being accused of such a thing. Constable Twomoy was then sent for, and the missing money turned up in the lining of prisoner's coat, In answer to the Bench the prisoner said he found the money on the floor, and as ho was very hard up, he was tempted to take the money, as he thought the constable was a man who had plenty of money, but had no idea who he was He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour in New Plymouth Gaol. — Tamnaki Herald.
