DAVYS BRIGHT LIGHTS.
Mastertca Theatre Royal Davy's Bright Lights Comedy.Specis slty and American Marionette Company appears in thoMasterton Theatre Royal on Wednesday and Thursday evenings next. The Company, which consists of no Jobs than eight performers, had a crowded and delighted audience at Pahialuss on Saturday night, Mr Hooper, the business manager, is now in MasJerton, making arrangements for the appearance of the Company, referring to which the Auckland Observer says: —Davy's J'Brighilights" have been illuminat. ing the faces of the huge concourse of amusement seekers visiting their unique and clever performances at tlio Opera House, by their unusually large supply of witty sayings, original gags.
fresh and catchy songs, mirth provoking comedies, amusing Marionette rflhow and pantomime, and spectacular transformation scenes, The fun commences with the rise of the curtain, and everybody is kept in a side-split-ting state from that moment until the time of its fall, a fact which is duo to the capital manner in which the pro-' gramme is arranged, each item being of a different nature to the others, though equally laughabloj thus doing away with the sameness in contributions which makes the average variety show monotonous, The entertainment opens .with a sparkling comedy, full" of go," and the various participators score at every opportunity, after which the variety business is introduced, and brought to a close with an entertaining and novel Marionette Bhow and pantomime, Fred Davys and Misa Georgie Defoe are the leading lights of the company, boih putting in excellent work in their respective lines, the versatile Davy'B clever Irish impersonations and stepdances being highly meritorious, and most enthusiastically received; whilst Miss Defoe's serio-comic gems are capital, and sho never escapes " an encore.
