MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

Sbo Monthly Mooting The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held on Saturday last, thero being present. Messrs W, H, Beethaip (Chairman), Wardell, Mo* Kenaie and Harris. The minutes of the previous. meeting wera read and confirmed. . Correspondence, tftom £, MoKenzie and others, petitioning the Board to metal a portion of the South Mauriceville road. From 11 Bright, offen'ng to contribute half the cost of draining on Upper Fernrldge road. Prom F. Court, applying for payment for bushfelling on road fronting his section, - From the Auditor-General, stating that the moneys lodged by M. McKenzie should he paid into the Boards account. From the Clerk, applying for a bonus for services rendered in adjust" ing the Board's books and accounts. From the Surveyor-General, stating that the road cannot betaken through TeWeraiti, 'wERArriHOAD, It was resolved on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Wardpll '• That the opinion of Mr Bell be obtained (through Mr Beard) on the view taken by the Government with reference to the question as to whether the word ' cultivation' iu the Crown Grants Act can be made to apply to prevent the taking of a road through land in respect of which the Crown Grant hasuot matured; and that the cost thwflof be charged against Subdivision No i}. 1 ' RESOLVED, That the sum of Mbe allowed to Mr Petersen to clear a track on the Hiwitoru road, about twenty chains. That Mr Court's claim for bushi felling he referred to the' Engineer.
