SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council was held on Saturday, there being preßont Crs H. R, Bunny (Chairman), W, Cundy, H, Braithwaite, Elgar and Matthews, The minutes of the previous meet* ing were read and confirmed, ' FINANCE. The treasurer reported a credit balance to the general account of £2lB 9s lid, with the Dry River loan for irrigation purposes, £BBl9s 10di The amount of disbursement on account of the Charitable Aid was £2l Is 6d. IRRIGATION WORKS. jtt It was proposed that Mr Koo he aiW lowed a bonus of £lO on the Dry ' River irrigation Works, * After some discussion the motion was withdrawn, and it was deoided that the question of a bonus bo deferred to next meeting of the Counoil HOME TOR POOR AND NEEDY, A letter from the Wairarapa North County Counoil with reforence to the ' proposed home for the poor and needy elicited a good deal of discussion, : It was finally deoided that a conference ot all the contributing bodies to the Charitable Aid should bo convened at an early date to disouss the question of a home for the aged and destitute. The matter of strengthening the Waiohine bridge was left over until a report had been received from Mr J. King.

It was resolved that a notice be posted on the bridge warning people against taking heavy loads over it, and horsemen against crossing it in other than a walking paco, " V The meeting then adjourned, r
